Languages in Australia English is the official language spoken in Australia, but with so many different cultures immigrating, it's not uncommon to hear a variety of other languages spoken. There are over 240 of these, with Italian, Arabic, Greek, Cantonese, and Vietnamese being the most commonly used, although even those are not heard everywhere. In addition, there is a very high number of Aboriginal languages in certain pockets of the country. While there are different dialects, it is believed that all these languages emerged from the same original tongue. |
