Those who are a slave to the wave won't be disappointed in Tasmania where surfing is an all year sport. Best waves off Hobart are Park and Clifton Beaches. Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula has great rides, as does the Tam O'Shanter near Launceston. The water is wild--and cold, so bring a wetsuit.
