Royal Park is one of Launceston's city parks that is home to the Tamar River and features a river edge boardwalk that connects the Cataract Gorge Reserve to the Inveresk Precinct, as well as offering multi-use trails, a skate park, boat ramp and river cruises. The park is also the site of the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.
Mount William National Park is situated in the northeast corner of Tasmania and boasts long beaches, abundant plant life and a diversity of wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats, pademelons, echidna, Tasmanian devils and over 100 species of birds. Coastal walks, camping, swimming and barbecues are amongst the park's popular activities.
This urban reserve is more than a stunning spectacle of the natural world; it is also a recreational haven. Walking trails, swimming pools, fishing, abseiling and rafting are just some of the activities found in the gorge, as well as an interpretive centre, eating facilities and the Kings Bridge Cataract Walk, a pathway along the cliff's face. For the best seat in the house, visitors can take a ride on the world's longest spanning chairlift at 308 m (924 ft) or take a cruise down the gorge in a pedal steamer.
